From the Dean of Colleges's Desk

The University of Delhi has been ranked number one by the India Today-Nielsen Survey and features among the top 100 universities in the world according to a recent global survey. The colleges at the University of Delhi provide the highest density of higher education learners in the territory of Delhi and perhaps anywhere in the country. Eighty three colleges are located in an area of 1,484 sq. km and provide the educational structure for almost 1,75,000 students in the collegiate mode and another 3,00,000 approximately in distance learning.  Imparting knowledge and learning to them is a very large cadre of highly qualified teachers.

Within this scenario, it is imperative that the college education system is linked by the common platform of a website (Colleges@DU) for the purpose of sharing Good Practices, curriculum, innovations, new initiatives in teaching and such other information. This is also the platform for discussing emerging challenges in higher education in the country. The Three Year Undergraduate Programme has created a beneficial curriculum with the clear sighted goal of equipping students with domain knowledge. This strong and internationally acclaimed curriculum requires close mentoring  by educationists within Delhi University and responsiveness to ideas from outside the  university.

The dedicated website (Colleges@DU) is designed as an information gateway as well as a forum. It will be regularly managed by a webmaster, and, over a short period of time, is expected to become the medium for promoting vital and regular exchange.

I warmly invite your participation.
